Assessment in Science
Pupils are formally assessed in 3 ways: End of Topic Tests assess pupil Knowledge and Understanding. Pupils are given a test at the end of every 2 topics. Investigations assess pupil’s practical abilities and report writing skills. Pupils are given the opportunity to plan and design experiments; carry them out and record results; as well as draw valid conclusions and evaluate their experiment.
Science and Environment Projects assess pupils ability to relate topics learnt in class to the environment or society. Project Ideas are given for every topic (see above). Pupils choose their own project and choose how they wish to present it.
All 3 forms of assessment continue into S3/4.
